October
16 - World Food Day / End Hunger Day
World Food Day is an important opportunity for the Better
World Community to come together to raise awareness
about the urgent problem of world hunger and inspire
year-round activities to ensure food security for all.
Local, national and global events are organized each
year. In the United States, observances are coordinated
by The United States National Committee for World Food
Day -- a coalition of 450 non-profit organizations.
The better world community can help publicize existing
events and activities, as well as create new local fairs,
festivals and house parties to spread the message that
We Can End Hunger!

January
1 - Global Family Day
Another
important occasion to raise awareness about hunger is
Global Family Day. The Global Family Foundation and
One Day In Peace have been promoting the first day of
the new year as an opportunity for the global family
to come together since the successful day of peace inspired
by the One Day In Peace, January 1, 2000 campaign. Since
then a UN resolution and a United States joint congressional
resolution have invited the world to observe January
1 each year as a day of peace and sharing.
